About the Time Capsule

The theme for the 3rd annual OneWebDay is Online Participation, an exciting topic in an election year where Web-based tools are changing the way people access the political process. To mark the third OneWebDay in Washington, DC, the DC OneWebDay planning committee has launched the e-Democracy Time Capsule. Anyone across the country and the world can contribute by adding text, images, sound, and video to a website describing their favorite e-Democracy tools, write letters to the future about their hopes for Web-powered politics, profile e-Democracy Heroes, and discuss Internet policy issues that are relevant to ensuring a Web future where the potential for online political participation can continue to flourish. We hope that thousands of people will visit the site, hundreds will make deposits, and the closing ceremony will draw wide local and national press and blog coverage.

On One Web Day, September 22, we will hold a closing ceremony for the Time Capsule. We plan to come together again on OneWebDay 2020 to re-open the Time Capsule and consider our progress in making the potential of real, inclusive Web-enabled democracy a reality. 2020 will be another general election year and the 15th anniversary OneWebDay.
